What I love about traveling
Travel takes you to new places outside your regular zone – literally and figuratively.
It teaches you about your humanity.
It encourages you to meet and be inspired by things that people in other places, cities, countries do in their daily lives. It teaches you that people are all the same no matter where the country/ city they live in, all with same hopes, dreams, fears etc. as you.
It exposes you to new thoughts, ideas, and experiences.
You get to see things, ideas, and experiences that may not be available to you in your town. You might see or hear or experience things you’ve never seen or heard before. Or be exposed to something you’ve heard before, but you never tried it.
It teaches you something new about yourself.
You might learn a new skill such as a new language or learn self-confidence and/or self-esteem. You might learn something different about yourself, i.e. a hidden talent, or skill, or knowledge. You may have to learn to be independent or be self-sufficient. And you will learn that no matter what happens, you will be okay.
It shows you that the world is a big place.
It takes you out of your comfort and/or safety zone. And yet, for its sheer size, the world can be small and rich, full of friendly people and strangers, always wanting to see you, talk to you, being curious about you, relating to you.
It takes you to different and amazing places and situations.
You could be having different kinds of experiences even within the same city, area or country you’re in. It teaches you how to cry, laugh, be sad, be happy at the same time. It teaches you how to be a human being. It encourages you to be a better human being.
It exposes you to different cultures, customs, festivals, food, languages, and cuisines.
The best part of traveling is the exposure to different cultures, languages, and customs that make up this planet. Different places and countries expose to you the richness of cultures, customs, and cuisines that make this planet called Earth a wonderful place to live in. Even within a country, you will find a variety of customs, cultures, cuisines, dress etc. that will expand your knowledge and experience.
Traveling teaches you to be a lifelong learner.
It encourages your mind to be curious. Travel teaches you that there is no limit to what you can learn about. It is a constant learning experience, it awakens the human spirit to something that is always new, fresh and exciting. Even if you have been to an area many times before and are familiar with the place, there is always something new to learn and explore. And that itself is the best learning experience.
What about you? What do you like about traveling? What gets you excited about it?
